Hurricane Katrina and Rita Levee Breach Settlement

Hurricane Katrina and Rita Levee Breach Settlement

Staff January 15, 2015

A court has just approved and revised a class action lawsuit which alleged that in both Hurricane Katrina and Rita, levees and other water and flood control structures in the affected areas failed or were overtopped during the hurricanes. The lawsuit alleged this happened because they were not properly designed, inspected or maintained.

You may be eligible for this settlement if you owned, resided in, were injured from, or maintained property in the affected areas of either Katrina or Rita during the time of the hurricanes. If you would like to submit your claim form online, you may do so here, but all claim forms must be submitted by May 30, 2015 to be eligible. The amount of your settlement will vary depending on a number of factors, including the type of injury sustained to you personally and how many people submit a claim form.
